William Clair Lane, Sr., 91, of Cape Coral, formerly of Canonsburg, PA died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in Fort Myers. He was born to the late George W. and Anna (nee; Neely) Lane on October 10, 1918 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Canonsburg High School and Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Mr. Lane served his country honorably in the U.S. Army-Air Corp during WWII. Mr. Lane was a member of the American Institute of Interior Designers. He was the designer for the Commercial Contract Division of the Joseph Horne Co. of Pittsburgh, PA and then retired in 1983.
He was a former member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church and now serving at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church of Cape Coral.
He preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, George, Jr. and Allan; sisters, Margaret and Bernice.
On December 22, 1942 William Clair Lane married Jane D. Campbell. Jane his beloved wife of 67 years survives him.
Also surviving, his son, William (Michele) Lane, Jr.; daughters, Betsy J. (Walter) Surich and Nancy C. (Kevin) Bubeck; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Fuller Cape Coral Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd., South. Cape Coral, 542-3161
Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Final Rest with Honors will be conducted on Monday, March 15 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL
